I.S.U WEEK 2020: We are still looking for more sponsorship and partnership – Comr. Adebogun Oriyomi Modupe

The chairman of the committee organizing the 2020 edition of Imota Student Union Week (ISU Week 2020), Comrade Adebogun Oriyomi Modupe and the organizing secretary, Comrade Akinsanya Yetunde Omolola reel out plans for the programme and also called for sponsorship and partnership during an online Fireside Chat held on Friday, 2nd of October, 2020.
The chairman in his opening remark talks about the readiness of the proposal for ISU Week 2020 and also commends the effort of the sponsors for the love and cooperation they showed the committee and the union anytime they are visited. According to the chairman, “to the glory of God, my committee have been able to cooked up the proposal. It has been presented and approved by the Congress, and we have started dispatching the proposal for sponsorship and partnership. Currently, we have sent out good numbers of our letters and proposal, but we still have some of our fathers and mothers yet to write to, and sincerely, I want to appreciate our fathers and mothers for the love and cooperation they are showing the Committee, and Imota Student Union at large.

Speaking about the theme for ISU Week 2020, the chairman said, “the theme for ISU Week 2020 is …Connecting The Dots” and responding to question on which dots are we connecting and why are we connecting dots, the chairman explained that, “ISU Week 2020 aim at connecting the dots between education, agriculture and social vices, and it is our belief that education and practical agricultural practices would serve as an antidote to social vices.

Speaking further, he claimed that “it will be difficult to see; a single household in Imota without one or two child in schools of different cadres of learning, also an indigenous house in Imota that did not own a regular source of water, space at the backyard or a farmland. However, despite these resources the students and youths are still idle, while a meaningful percentage of them are known to be perpetrator of social vices. But, with what we are planning and our reserved recommendation for the next administration, if followed properly, in no time, our community will regain its peaceful status again.’’ He halted.

Feeding response to questions on the highlight of programme for this year’s ISU Week, the chairman stated that ‘’due to the advent of the pandemic (Covid 19) and the current status of the economy, this year’s ISU Week program had been reduced to four days instead of the usual six to seven day’s program. We have considered programmes such as; Free Medical Check-Up & Enlightenment Exercise which will hold at Ranodu Palace, Imota; Jamb Form Scholarship Aptitude Test at Imota Community Grammar School, Imota; Talent Hunt: Art and Science Exhibition at Imota Public Library; and the grand finale, Youth Educational Symposium at Admos Hotel & Suites on 16th, 17th, 18 and 21st of November respectively.’’

‘’By God’s grace, ISU Week 2020 looks forward to hosting crèmé de la crème of people from all walks of life; ministries, higher institutions of learning, NGOs, captains of industries, secondary School students across the division, government agencies, local and state student bodies, to mention but a few. Distinguished honourable comrades, be rest assured that this year’s ISU Week would be the largest gathering of youths and students in Ikorodu Division and with your support, it is achievable.’’ He submitted.

Replying to the question enquiring if ISU Week 2020 is opened for partnership, the chairman in his response said that, ‘’it’s of our intention to partner with different organizations, both government and non-governmental. We are planning to write Millicent Foundation, Save a Girl Child, Focus Point Academy-FPA, Think Climate First, Private Schools, Onward Youths Educational Seminar – OYES, Gain Something Today – GST, Private Establishments among others that may be later suggested for a letter of partnership.’’
‘’We are looking for individuals, and organization that will share souvenirs that would portray the company logo to our participants, do a pep talk, and support the programme to their best of capability, and in return, the partners will be given opportunity to talk to the participants, and be provided a space to display their organization banners. Also, their logo will be in all our printed materials: such as banners, e-flyer, pamphlet etc. He asserted.
